The leader options cycle around randomly, however, you won’t get the chance to have the same one back to back, and the opportunity to elect a new leader is often welcome as once you’re up to your second settlement and beyond you’ll be spoiled for choices with what to do in each turn. ![]() Each leader gives you a choice of special actions you can use each turn, as well as having a specialisation. It all starts with your first city and you picking your first leader. However, the team at Asteroid Lab have done a great job of keeping a relatively clean user interface and has very clearly put a lot of effort into the onboarding process. I was expecting a deluge of options, play styles and keyboard commands to utterly blind me from the get-go. Terraformers, which is launching into Early Access on Steam very soon, pleasantly surprised me. So, when I saw Goblinz Publishing’s row of games at WASD and saw Terraformers there, I knew I had to give it a go. A tough comparison for Terraformers to come up against, even if Terraforming Mars‘ digital adaptions haven’t been particularly well-received. It’s a masterpiece in board game design that accommodates a mass of different playstyles depending on player experience. Terraforming Mars is a giant of a game, an engine-builder board game about competing players snatching up surface area and specialising their properties to create spiralling domino effects as you move toward the close of the game. I don’t know about you, but when I first heard about Terraformers, the first thing I thought about was Terraforming Mars. It’s all about balancing resources while also gradually building up systems and increasing your settlements’ efficiency. Terraformers has you terraforming Mars, and building a sustainable colony before changing the very nature of the planet to make it hospitable. We’ve been to Mars in games more than a few times over the years, it has an incredible habit of cropping up in 4X games, but also a lot of games about ecological awareness - which is, understandably a very popular and important topic at the moment. Since Terraformer is a modular framework, you can pick and choose the pieces to use in your own application.Explore and populate the surface of Mars with experiments and projects in Terraformers a single-player, combat-free strategy take on space-colonisation. You can also convert data between different formats like ArcGIS Geometries and Well Known Text. You can use multiple types of spatial indexes and backing stores for your data. Terraformer GeoStore is a JavaScript database for indexing and querying large amounds of GeoJSON. Start exploring all the options you have working with Primitives and the core library. bbox () // returns the geojson bounding box for this object. within ( convexHull ) // returns true var boundingBox = polygon. You can also have Terraformer perform many geometric operations like convex hulls and bounding boxes. insertVertex (, 2 ) // figure out if our point is within our polygon point. add a new vertex to our polygon polygon. Now that you have a point and a polygon primitive, you can use many of the primitive helper methods. You can create a new Terraformer.Primitive with any GeoJSON object. Most of the core Terraformer libray centers around using Primitives, which wrap GeoJSON objects and provide additional functionality. To see Terraformer in action in the browser, check out our live demos. To utilize supporting packages, you must load their source as well. To use the Terraformer library, include a reference to it using a tag. require ( 'terraformer-arcgis-parser' ) require ( 'terraformer-wkt-parser' ) require ( 'terraformer-geostore' ) Link If needed, supporting packages can be added too. Var Terraformer = require ( 'terraformer' ) ![]() Install the core module with NPM and then require it in your Node program. GeoStores also need an index module and a backing store which are distributed as separate modules. ![]() GeoStore - A JavaScript database for storing and querying collections of GeoJSON Features.WKT Parser - Parses basic WKT (Well Known Text) strings to and from GeoJSON.ArcGIS Parser - Parses ArcGIS geometry objects to GeoJSON and vice-versa.Terraformer - The core library for manipulating GeoJSON and performing calculations. There are currently several packages in the Terraformer ecosystem. Terraformer is broken into multiple small packages to give you the functionality you need while still remaining extremely lightweight. Terraformer is an open source (MIT licensed) Javascript geo-toolkit, built for the server and the browser. ![]()
